Welcome to Bhairavan Temple

Rooted in Kerala’s rich heritage, Bhairavan Temple of the Kochuvalan Tharavad is a serene and powerful sacred space in Kannancheri, Kozhikode. Dedicated to Lord Bhairava, this temple offers spiritual strength and ancestral reverence, inviting every soul into its divine embrace.

• Lord Bhairava: Fierce, protective form of Shiva, known for strength and removal of obstacles.
• Bhadrakali: Fierce form of Devi worshipped for justice and divine blessings.
• Guru: Installed inside the nallukettu, representing a warrior-saint guardian of the family.

• Monthly Pooja: Last Saturday of every Malayalam month (except Meenam/Medam and Mithunam/Karkidakam).
• Annual Festival: Bhairavan Utsavam held on the last Saturday of Dhanu month. Begins with Ganapathi Homam and spans 2 days.
• Special Festival Poojas: Onam, Vishu, Vidyarambham.

Note: Devotees can ask the contact person to schedule a pooja in their name by offering the required amount.

The traditional pond with stone steps and trees enhances the spiritual ambiance. At the entrance lies the sacred Mullathara well, wrapped in nature’s embrace, symbolizing purity, power, and ancestral guardianship.

The ancestral home within the compound holds the energy of the Kochuvalan Tharavad. Guru, once a mighty warrior and a divine musician, resides here as a guiding spirit of wisdom and strength—protecting the temple like a saintly sentinel.
